About Us
When I brought Pepper home at just eight weeks old, I was determined to give her the best start possible. We socialized her, exposed her to all kinds of sights, sounds, people, places, and experiences, and did everything we thought we were supposed to do.
But as Pepper approached her first birthday, something changed. Everyday life seemed to become increasingly overwhelming for her. She became easily overstimulated and struggled to control herself when exciting things were happening around her.
With two children in our home, the chaos became difficult to manage. Pepper couldn't be in the yard with the kids without chasing them and grabbing at their clothes. When we had guests over, she would race around the house, unable to settle. She could jump over baby gates, making it nearly impossible to contain her when she needed a break. She wasn't a bad dog, and she wasn't aggressive—but she was a lot of dog, and she was knocking people around everywhere she went.
There were moments when we genuinely wondered if we could keep her.
We worked with multiple in-home trainers and began diving into every resource we could find about canine behavior and reactivity. Along the way, I learned about trigger stacking, thresholds, body language, environmental management, and strategies for helping an overstimulated dog learn to regulate and make better choices. Most importantly, I learned that Pepper wasn't a bad dog. She was a dog who was struggling, and we needed to learn how to understand her and help her.
Today, Pepper is a different dog. And I'm incredibly grateful to her for taking me on this journey into the world of canine training and behavior.
What started as a desperate attempt to help my own dog has grown into a passion for helping other families. I've had the opportunity to coach dozens of people with training tips and support, and I've seen how much of a difference the right information and guidance can make.
I know what it's like to love your dog deeply while also feeling overwhelmed by their behavior. I've lived through the chaos, the frustration, the stress, and the anxiety that can come with having a dog who seems impossible to manage. My goal is to help families understand their dogs, recognize what they're communicating, and develop practical strategies that make everyday life more peaceful—for both the people and the dogs they love.
Because sometimes your dog doesn't need to be "fixed." You just need the tools to understand each other.
Pepper's Story

Hi, I’m Ellie! I live in Naperville with my two children, two dogs, and one very loved cat.
Over the past five years, I’ve fostered more than 70 dogs and puppies and coached dozens of new foster families with practical training tips to help both their foster dogs and resident pets succeed. My own highly reactive dog has also taught me firsthand how challenging dog behavior can be—and how much can change when we learn to understand our dogs and work with them.
After leaving the corporate world, I decided to turn my passion for helping people and dogs into a career. I have a degree in education, and teaching has been a part of every chapter of my professional life.
Today, I’m an independent dog trainer using positive, practical methods tailored to each dog and owner. My goal is to give families the knowledge, confidence, and tools they need to build a calmer, happier life with their dogs.
